An old quote from 2006 that was taken from an interview from CEO Mike Jeffries has been taken a storm. Abercombie & Fitch’s CEO’S not-so-popular preference for selling his clothes exclusively to “cool”, “good looking” folks and not “larger people”. Celebrities like Ellen Degeneres and Kirstie Alley have taken a stand against this.
The best response thus so far has been Blogger Jes M. Baker from The Militant Baker. In an open letter she says “The only thing you’ve done through your comments (about thing being beautiful and only offering XL and XXL in your stores for men) is reinforce the unorginal concept that fat women are social failures, valueless, and undersirable. Your apology doesn’t change this.”
Baker takes her argument a step further by poisng in a series of mock Abercombie ads, titled “Attractive & Fat”, along with model John C. Shay. Check out the beautiful photos shot by Liora K. Photography
