Prissy Torres: Fashionista in the Making

Born and raised in Miami, Priscilla Torres (Parents are Cuban) was not always into fashion. When she was little she always wanted to be in the camera. Prissy, which she likes to be called, wanted to be an actress. Well she got her wish but starting modeling at age 15. See the whole interview below:

Maria Fernanda: So tell me a little bit about yourself: How old are you? Where you from? Where do you go to school? What hobbies do you like?

Prissy Torres: I am currently 19 years old, turning 20 soon in October. I am originally from here, Miami FL with Cuban/Spanish roots. I am currently attending Miami Dade College, but soon transferring out to a university to pursue my dream in the broadcasting communications field.  I love anything fashion, and anything that has to do with dance (I was always a dancer), and I love to talk! (if that’s even a hobbie…haha)

Maria Fernanda: At what age did you start modeling?

Prissy Torres: I started modeling at the age of 15. I was never the type of girl to be interested in “serious” modeling, but when I was given the opportunity to be a model in one of the pages of Selecta Magazine I took the opportunity and ran with it. After shooting for Selecta Magazine, I realized how in love I was with modeling that I continued to pursue it. Becoming involved as a model for several local boutiques leading on to online boutiques, Model Mayhem, and now recently Macys and Bloomingdales.

Maria Fernanda: What’s your style like? How do you dress? Are you more of a trend setter or do you like to make statements?

Prissy Torres: I love to dress edgy but also mix it in with some girliness because I am very girly myself. I am definitely more of a trend setter, because I like to take risks in fashion and somehow wear and introduce clothing that not a lot of people on the streets have quite yet.

 

Maria Fernanda: Whose your favorite designer?

Prissy Torres: This is such a hard question! Haha I love so many favorite designers, but I would have to say Alexander McQueen is one of the greatest for me. His collections and pieces of clothing just describe me perfectly, and all his pieces are like a work of art! They’re tailored to perfection.

Maria Fernanda: Who do you admire in the fashion industry? Who do you think is the best fashionable celebrity?

Prissy Torres: One of my ultimate faves has always been J LO! Her stylist deserves an award Seriously! She is so beautiful and she always dresses so flawless and classy but sexy! 

 

Maria Fernanda: Where do you see yourself in 5 years from now?

Prissy Torres: Five years from now, I hope to be already working in my career of choice. Also I hope to be in place in my life where I can look back and see how far I’ve come and all the hard work has payed off. I hope I will still have the love for modeling that I have now and I hope I will still be involved with it.

Maria Fernanda: What advice would you give to girls now a days who are pursuing this career? 

 Prissy Torres: I would tell them that they need to put themselves out there, and not be ashamed of who they are, especially by their bodies and how they dress, or look. Every girl is stellar in their own way, and if you really love something then you should chase after it and make it happen! Giving up is no option.
